Homeless Woman Arrested for Stabbing NYC Mother with Toddler

A mother pushing her toddler in a stroller on a Brooklyn street was allegedly stabbed by a homeless woman, resulting in the arrest of Lequasiah Lawrence, aged 25, on Wednesday. The NYPD has charged Lawrence with attempted murder and assault in connection with the unprovoked attack that took place on Monday afternoon.

According to reports, Lawrence repeatedly slashed the 34-year-old woman and made threats towards her 3-year-old daughter at the intersection of Jay and Tillary streets.

According to a police spokesperson, this incident marks Lawrence’s initial encounter with law enforcement. The injured mother, speaking to The Post, expressed that she did not provoke Lawrence and had no prior knowledge of her.

She expressed concern for the safety of her daughter, stating, “I don’t want her to stab my daughter. I can defend myself. It’s truly alarming. All I witnessed was her attempting to harm my daughter, and I had to intervene.”

She further revealed the extent of her injuries, stating, “I have received six stab wounds. The attack was swift and intense.”

According to the police, the victim suffered stab wounds in the chest and multiple times in both legs. A bystander reported that Lawrence targeted the mother after witnessing her yelling at her daughter.

The bystander, a local construction worker who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the incident, saying, “The other woman couldn’t mind her own business. She confronted the mother, asking why she was yelling at the baby. The mother responded that it was none of her concern, and they began arguing.”

Allegedly, Lawrence then produced a “long knife” and launched an attack on the mother when she fell to the ground on her back.

Eventually, a man intervened and separated them, prompting Lawrence to flee on foot. She abandoned the knife near a nearby church and proceeded north on Jay Street.

The mother, in stable condition, was later transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment. Thankfully, her 3-year-old daughter remained unharmed during the assault. Source.
