Dog Mistakenly Euthanized by Shelter

animal shelter rescue dog

The Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Center in Arizona is facing backlash after a staff member mistakenly euthanized a rottweiler named Cerrit that was supposed to be rescued by Rotten Rottie Rescue.

The center’s spokesperson, Kim Powell, stated that it was an honest mistake made by a vet tech who missed a critical step and did not see that the dog was a guaranteed pull for the rescue group.

This is not the first time such a mistake has occurred at the center, as a similar incident led to the death of another dog in December.

The employee responsible is facing disciplinary action and the center is reviewing its processes to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
