Ebro in the Morning discusses Triller’s continuing legal troubles. The deal between Triller and Verzuz was considered good, said Rosenberg. They promised to pay artists and the creators for their work on the show; however, reports say Triller has not paid Swizz Beatz, and Timbaland.
Reports claim Sony is suing Triller because the company failed to pay the licensing fees for the music they used on their platform. Laura Stylez said, “it’s falling apart.” the owner of Triller, Ryan Kavanaugh is “a Hollywood dude,” who was allegedly semi disgraced, said Rosenberg. Kavanaugh founded Relativity Media in 2004 with entertainment executive Lynwood Spinks.
In the end, Relativity Media went bankrupt, and the company dissolved. November 11, Relativity Media was “desperately short on funds,” so an investor arranged a series of loans in exchange for interest. Industry speculation surfaced that Kavanaugh will be ousted from Relativity and replaced by Harvey Weinstein, informed Rosenberg.
Rosenberg said that since the beginning, he believed there would be trouble with Triller. The DJ said he didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to “ish on anyone’s operation.” Rosenberg said he hoped for the best and had ideas for the show. When he tried to pitch his ideas, something didn’t seem right. “It sounded raggedy,” said Ebro. “They moved suspect,” he added.
Rosenberg said the conversation about his ideas for Verzuz always disappeared. Ebro noted that for those not aware, Rosenberg works behind the scenes as well. The radio hosts agreed that the show looked great on television.
Ebro said perhaps Triller would pay Sony. Maybe they have the money and are just late. Perhaps Kavanaugh will pay part of the money due, said Rosenberg.
