Start your own business

This may or may not be for everybody but is there something that you like to do and people are willing to pay you for it like making cheesecakes? If so, you have the makings of a small business. Yes, it’s very hard work, endless hours, doing things you don’t want to do, hiring and firing, and growth. Nevertheless, it never feels that way because it’s all YOURS. The likelihood of you getting fired is nonexistent provided you have clients and if you get tired of it you can sell your business and do something else. Make sure whatever you do in your small business is something that you are very passionate about. Money is secondary whatever you’re doing is always first. If you go into business thinking of making money first… you’ll usually fail.

  1. Really nice article, great advice. Being in the over 35 but under 50 range and still pursuing an entertainment career can be tough at times but it’s in my heart to keep going. Thanks Kevin!!

  2. I arrived at this site accidentally while researching for a radio station to send my first single for airplay. I am glad that I found this site and that I took the time to read the whole article. This article is very encouraging. It also reinforced my efforts for career change and to diversify my skills and abilities although I am over 35. It is well intended and well written. My sincere thank you to Kevin Ross for caring and sharing. I am an emerging independent singer/songwriter wanting an airplay for my first single.

    My regards,
    Charity Ekeke
