ASPiRE today announced that its original series, THE ROOT 100 (#TheRoot100), will return for a second season on Wednesday, November 27 at 8 p.m. EDT. Hosted by Emmy-winning television journalist and CNN Anchor Suzanne Malveaux, the weekly show is based on online news and commentary site The Root’s (TheRoot.com) fourth annual list of 100 of the most influential African-American innovators of the next generation (age 25-45).

Featuring first-hand interviews by Political Strategist/Writer/Commentator Jamal Simmons and original profiles of 24 of the list’s honorees, THE ROOT 100 explores the lives and groundbreaking accomplishments of these dynamic men and women. Production on the eight-episode series has commenced in New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Atlanta. Each one-hour episode features profiles of three honorees, woven together by common themes, including community, faith, politics, arts, entertainment, sports, business, technology, science and health.

In revealing conversations, each honoree discusses intimate moments, turning points in their lives and their aspirations to affect change. Through these inspirational stories, the series provides insight into what it really takes to pursue one’s passion and achieve success with meaning and purpose.”THE ROOT 100 presents a fascinating, in-depth look at two dozen extraordinary African-Americans, whose professional work and personal contributions reverberate throughout every aspect of our community and the world at large,” said ASPiRE General Manager Paul Butler. “Every person on The Root 100 list uses their voice and platform to fundamentally make our world better. We feel it is part of ASPiRE’s mission to introduce these special individuals to our viewers.””With our partner ASPiRE, we are proud to celebrate some of the most illustrious, gifted and passionate African-Americans, who make substantive contributions to the world through politics, social justice, science, technology, arts and entertainment, culture, journalism, and more,” said Donna Byrd, publisher, The Root. “This unique and inspiring weekly series will continue to showcase The Root 100 list to a greater audience, while giving an individual spotlight to key honorees”.
