The Purcell School has announced its plans to launch the RSL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Music Industries as a new pathway for Sixth Form students starting in September 2026. This initiative makes it the first specialist music school in the UK to offer this industry-focused qualification, which aims to equip young musicians for a diverse professional landscape.
The diploma is a nationally recognized vocational qualification, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of music creation, performance, production, and management. It offers a practical, project-based approach, allowing students to showcase their skills through portfolio development and creative briefs.
Students can choose from four specialist pathways: Pop Performance, Classical Performance, Composition, and Music Production, tailored to their strengths and interests. The curriculum covers collaborative performance, recording techniques, creative entrepreneurship, self-promotion, event planning, and career sustainability.
Upon completion, students will earn a nationally recognized RSL Diploma, equivalent to three A Levels, supporting their progression to university or conservatoire studies or direct entry into the music profession.
