Musicians Join Billionaire Club Through Smart Moves

Only a handful of musicians have cracked the billionaire code, and it’s more than just chart-topping hits; it’s about smart business moves.

While the music industry is often synonymous with glitz and glamour, the number of billionaires within its ranks is remarkably small. Recently, Forbes and Bloomberg tracked down six musicians who have achieved billionaire status, showcasing a blend of artistry, savvy investments, and rigorous touring schedules.

Jay-Z was the trailblazer, becoming the first musician to reach billionaire status in 2019. His expansive wealth comes from a diverse array of sources, including his Roc Nation entertainment label, high-end liquor brands Ace of Spades and D’Ussé, and lucrative investments in tech companies like Uber. This mix has solidified his status as a business mogul beyond music.

Fast forward to late 2023, when Taylor Swift claimed her place in the billionaire club. Unlike many of her peers, Swift’s fortune stems predominantly from her music and touring efforts, particularly the massive success of her Eras Tour. This achievement marks her as a groundbreaking figure, earning her wealth primarily from the art itself rather than relying heavily on additional business ventures.

Rihanna follows closely as a business powerhouse, with her billionaire status largely fueled by her 50% stake in Fenty Beauty, her collaboration with the luxury group LVMH, and the success of her lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty. While her musical achievements are legendary, it’s her entrepreneurial ventures that have defined her financial success.

Beyoncé joined this exclusive club in December 2025 after the phenomenal success of her Renaissance and Cowboy Carter world tours, alongside her ownership of Parkwood Entertainment. Her multifaceted career spans decades and showcases her ability to continually reinvent herself in an ever-changing industry.

Bruce Springsteen entered the billionaire ranks in 2024, thanks to the sale of his extensive music catalog to Sony for around $500 million, coupled with consistent income from his high-grossing tours. His enduring appeal and savvy decisions have ensured his financial stability.

Lastly, Selena Gomez was recognized as a billionaire by Bloomberg in September 2024. Having originally gained fame as a Disney star, she transitioned successfully into music, amassing considerable wealth through her beauty brand, Rare Beauty. Her journey illustrates the evolving landscape of celebrity and entrepreneurship in the music world.

These six musicians not only dominate the charts but also exemplify the potential for artists to leverage their talent into substantial financial empires.
