Saving Country Music is taking a stand against AI’s encroachment on music integrity with a new policy. Starting in 2026, all music submissions must disclose AI involvement.

In response to the growing concerns surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the music industry, Saving Country Music announced a new policy that will reshape how music submissions are handled. Effective March 1, 2026, artists, labels, and publicists will be required to clearly disclose whether any submitted music was composed fully or partially with AI. This requirement aims to protect the authenticity of musical content and ensure transparency in music coverage.

The policy specifies that music containing 50% or more AI-generated lyrics or any AI-derived sounds will be disqualified from reviews and editorial opportunities on the platform. However, its essential to note that music created by human artists that may have utilized AI tools for research purposeslike verifying information or enhancing creativitywill still be eligible as long as the majority of the composition is human-authored, and no AI-generated sounds are included.

Saving Country Music is not entirely excluding AI-derived compositions from coverage. Rather, the outlet intends to report on the impact of AI on the music industry while promoting responsible practices among creators and media outlets. The publication is urging other media organizations to adopt similar policies to foster public trust in music journalism and safeguard human creators against the disruptive effects of AI proliferation.

In addition, the new policy includes a 60-day grace period to educate artists and representatives on the guidelines prior to full enforcement. During this time, inquiries may be made to verify AI’s involvement in the music submissions. The initiative mirrors existing practices, such as the disclosure of explicit lyrics, ensuring that music professionals maintain clarity regarding AI’s role in musical works.

Saving Country Music also emphasizes that streaming services and industry charting entities, such as Billboard, should implement similar labeling systems to distinguish between AI-generated music and human-created tracks. By doing this, the industry can better navigate the complexities of AI in music and strive to maintain a balanced ecosystem for human creators.

As the influence of AI on the music marketplace continues to grow, the implications of this policy will be closely monitored. The aim is to establish a framework that not only accommodates AI music but also protects the rights and integrity of human artists in an ever-evolving musical landscape.
