We have learned that radio DJ, Johnny “Kookout” Starks is listed in fair condition at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC after being injured in a wreck involving a tractor-trailer in Craven County. Johnny Starks is a radio personality for 101.9 Kiss FM, a Hip Hop and R&B station based in New Bern. Starks was apparently involved in the crash Tuesday morning and was not able to make his on-air shift at the radio station.

According to the Highway Patrol, Starks ran a red light and crashed his Kiss FM van into a tractor-trailer that was making a left turn. Charges are pending, said investigators. The driver of the tractor-trailer appeared to be okay.WCIT news spoke with KISS FM on-air personality Jay Blaze, who obviously hopes Koolout makes a full and speedy recovery.

Blaze says he and others have visited Starks at the hospital, and are keeping him in prayer.”We’re just happy he’s okay. And we’re going to pray for him and hope he gets better soon,” said coworker Jay Blaze. “Koolout is a real good guy, hard worker, here on time everyday, works super hard, is dedicated to the community and real a upstanding good dude. Salute to everybody going out and showing love to him and you know everybody for their prayers.”Like the many fans that have taken to the stations Facebook page, we would also like to wish Koolout a speedy recovery and we also hope he returns to the air soon.
