A New Era of Representation in the Entertainment Industry
In the past few years, the entertainment world has witnessed a significant shift towards diversity and inclusivity, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the rise of talent agents Tay Smith and Christopher Young. As two of the most diligent and hard-working African American agents in the southeast, these trailblazers have been making waves in the industry, bringing fresh talent to the forefront in the heart of the new Black Hollywood: Atlanta. Amidst the city’s thriving hip hop scene, the presence of Tyler Perry’s production studio, and a plethora of reality shows, Smith and Young have created a powerful synergy that has revolutionized talent representation.
It’s inspiring to see the rise of black talent in all aspects of TV and Film production. Kudos to these two trailblazers.
The New Faces of Talent Representation
With their background in creative management, insightful career directing, and music production, Smith and Young have not only made their mark in the industry but also continue to elevate the brand of J Pervis Talent Agency, where they work. Their collaborations have led to the development of fresh faces in the industry, and their commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident in their work.
Meet Christopher Young and Tay Smith
Christopher Young, an industry veteran with two decades of experience, has been credited with discovering and developing Grammy Award-winning artist, Johnta’ Austin, and mega producer Garrett Hamler, better known as Sean Garrett. Tay Smith, on the other hand, founded and headed his own music production company, Yungsta Entertainment, which quickly gained traction and positioned him as a leading figure in the music scene.
From Music to TV and Film
In 2012, Smith and Young decided to transition into television and film. They joined the team at J Pervis Talent Agency in 2013 and quickly made a name for themselves. Their new signings have included actor Columbus Short (“Scandal”), WWE wrestler David Otunga, hip hop artist/actor Zane “Lil Zane” Copeland, T.I.’s son Messiah Harris, and “R&B Divas” reality star LaTavia Roberson.
Their Vision for the Future
