Michael Bolden has been named the executive director of Campus Operations for the Office of the President at Jackson State University. His primary oversight areas are Facilities & Construction Management, Safety and Emergency Management, Auxiliary Services, and several areas critical to the University’s COVID-19 response.

“I am excited to join people dedicated to the service and stewardship of the young men and women who will take their place as global leaders one day,” said Bolden. “I look forward to lending my experience to the pool of talent responsible for ensuring every student a great experience in and outside of the classroom.”

With 26 years of leadership and government experience, Bolden’s previous roles include deputy administrator (2018-2020), and director of Administrative Services (2000-2018), at the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, along with an extensive background in strategic planning, financial accounting, fiscal and program auditing, and training and development.

Bolden says he intends to increase the level of service delivery efficiency throughout the campus while maintaining the integrity of the University’s aesthetic.

Furthermore, Bolden says he aims to support the administration’s vision of an enhanced, student-centered campus experience and work collaboratively with campus and community partners to meet alumni and visitor expectations of maintaining a safe and hospitable academic space for students.

A native of Itta Bena, Bolden received a master’s degree in public policy and administration from JSU in 2018. He is also a 1991 alumnus of Tougaloo College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in accounting.

Bolden’s professional and civic affiliations include membership in Pi Alpha Alpha International Honor Society, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the American Society for Public Administration, Toastmasters International, Minorities in Natural Resources Committee, Tougaloo College National Alumni Association, and the Jackson State University National Alumni Association.

Bolden resides in Jackson with his wife of 30 years, Rev. Maxine Simmons Bolden. They have two adult children, Chotania and Xavier, a daughter-in-law, Janna, and two grandchildren.
