Apple has launched the initial beta version of iOS 26.4 for developers, which includes a significant enhancement for Apple Music in the form of a new feature called ‘Playlist Playground.’ This feature utilizes Apple Intelligence to allow users to create personalized playlists based on text descriptions.
Accessible via the Apple Music app, users can tap the new playlist icon located in the upper-right corner of the ‘Library’ page. By entering a text prompt, Apple Music will generate a customized playlist that reflects the user’s request. Additionally, the feature offers built-in prompts labeled ‘New Playlist Ideas’ to facilitate playlist creation.
Once a playlist is generated, users have the capability to add it to their Apple Music library, as well as manually modify the track list by adding or removing songs and reordering them. The ‘Playlist Playground’ also allows for iterative refinement of playlists, enabling users to make adjustments through further prompts without needing to restart the creation process.
For those not seeing the new feature after updating to iOS 26.4, it may be due to the Apple Intelligence models still being in the process of downloading. Users can verify this by navigating to the Settings app and selecting the ‘Apple Intelligence & Siri’ menu. Currently, iOS 26.4 is available to developer beta testers, with a public beta anticipated in the coming weeks.
