On March 17, BMI hosted Ella Langley, the rising star from SAWGOD/Columbia Records, for a major milestone at their Nashville office.
This celebration marked her first-ever No. One party, recognizing her chart-topping hits, “weren’t for the wind” and “Choosin’ Texas.” The event brought together over 400 industry professionals, creating an electric atmosphere to honor Langley and her talented collaborators.
Langley was joined by co-writers Johnny Clawson, Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor to celebrate the success of both songs. During the festivities, BMI’s Leslie Roberts kicked things off by highlighting the achievements of the 2x Platinum hit, “weren’t for the wind.”
In recognition of their achievement, Langley, Clawson, and Taylor were each presented with custom Taylor 210e DLX guitars, marking a memorable moment in their careers.
The spotlight also shifted to “Choosin’ Texas,” a record-breaking Platinum hit. BMI’s Clay Bradley continued the celebration by sharing the song’s remarkable success.
Billboard’s Russ Penuell took the stage to emphasize the historical significance of the track, noting that it tied for the most weeks ever spent atop the Billboard Hot 100 by a woman, matching Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” for a three-week reign.
As part of the celebration, a special donation was made by Langley and her co-writers to Pawsitive Rescue Division, an organization that offers care, rehabilitation, and training for rescued dogs.
The event was also sponsored by Studio Bank, and Langley and her collaborators were gifted a commemorative bottle of Green River Whiskey, the new official whiskey sponsor of BMI No. One parties.
