Beasley Media Group: 65 Years of Growth & Community

Beasley Media Group is celebrating a significant milestone as it marks 65 years in the broadcasting business, showcasing its evolution from a single station to a national media powerhouse.

Beasley Media Group is commemorating its 65th anniversary in 2026, reflecting its journey from a small-market radio station to a diversified media company with a significant national presence. The company’s origins trace back to December 3, 1961, when founder George Beasley received an FCC license to establish WPYB-AM, a daytime-only station in Benson, North Carolina. At that time, many smaller communities lacked access to local broadcasting, and Beasley recognized the potential of radio to bridge that gap, a vision that laid the groundwork for the company’s future.

Over the past six and a half decades, Beasley Media Group has expanded its portfolio to include 55 radio stations across large and mid-sized markets while also enhancing its reach through digital platforms and live events. Despite the ongoing changes in the media industry, the company emphasizes its commitment to local communities and content as a central pillar of its operations.

This anniversary is themed “65 Strong: Forward Together,” highlighting the company’s rich history and its commitment to future growth. A special commemorative logo will be featured across all company communications and platforms throughout 2026. Caroline Beasley, the company’s CEO, remarked that this milestone is not only a reflection of the hard work of both past and current employees but also a testament to Beasley Media Group’s adaptive strategies and innovations over the years.

The celebration aims to honor the company’s legacy while reinforcing its dedication to localism and evolving media strategies. Throughout 2026, Beasley plans to spotlight significant moments from its history, celebrate its markets and teams, and outline a strategic vision for the future as it continues to enhance its digital capabilities and community engagement.
