On the night of the awards, Koy opened with a monologue that received mixed reactions. He humorously pointed out the short notice he had for preparing the monologue, joking about the contributions from various writers. The Hollywood Reporters Daniel Fienberg noted the lack of laughter during Koys performance, suggesting a struggle in the hosting role.

During his appearance on GMA3, Koy admitted to feeling hurt by the critiques and discussed the difficulty of transitioning from stand-up comedy to hosting. He also addressed a joke involving Taylor Swift, clarifying that it was intended as a jab at the NFL, not Swift herself.

Koy further elaborated on his approach to the monologue, mentioning the collaborative effort with the writers. He expressed a mix of regret and pride in his work despite the challenges.

Before the show, Koy had received advice and writer recommendations from Chris Rock, a former Oscars host. Despite the tough experience, Koy cherid the opportunity and the effort put into preparing for the hosting role in a short time frame.

Koy also talked about the unique circumstances of the 2024 Golden Globes, including the last-minute CBS pick-up and the tight preparation schedule due to contractual and writer arrangements. He concluded by expressing pride in what he achieved under the circumstances.
