OH NO: Mo'Nique's Radio Show Canned!!!

While I personally want to see radio people get national radio gigs the news came today that Mo’Nique’s radio show just didn’t pick up enough steam nationwide. Therefore,  the Award-winning comedienne is “leaving” radio to further her career in television, film and comedy – the final show airs March 18h. In radio language that’s a nice way of saying “The show has been canned.”   Mo’Nique is embracing the transition from radio with a focus on furthering her career in television, film and comedy.  She anticipates being involved in more motion picture films and continuing to provide her fans with what she is known for best—stand-up comedy.  The Mo’Nique Show is/was part of Syndication One’s programming which serves as a subsidiary of the parent company Radio One. “I would like to thank my fabulous board of directors for their daily inspiration and feedback and Radio One for the opportunity to further my entertainment brand through radio”, says Mo’Nique.  Mo’Nique’s show is the first to be canceled by syndication one in a while.  She’s is currently on tour with scheduled upcoming live performances in Dallas and Washington, D.C.  Plus, she makes a critically acclaimed non-comedic, dramatic debut as one of the stars of the film Push which can be seen soon in theatres nationally (is that movie still in theaters?).
