Ridley, the Falcons’ wide receiver, has been suspended for at least the 2022 football season after gambling on NFL games last year. The NFL announced his suspension, saying he bet on games over a five-day stretch in November 2021, said Rickey Smiley.
Ridley was on the non-football injury list to address his mental illness, said Smiley. He stepped away from the game on Halloween last year because he needed to get his personal life in order, said the NFL star. In a series of tweets after the suspension was announced, Ridley said he bet $1500 total and that he does not have a gambling problem.
According to Smiley, the NFL player could not watch football when he made his bets, and he will be healthier when he returns. Ridley admitted his wrongdoings but said he was only getting one year, said the radio host. Gary said a one-year suspension is not something the ballplayer should laugh about because the one year could stretch into a few years.
The morning show said the number one rule as a player is to not bet on games. Pete Rose got banned for life for betting on games, said the radio DJ. Smiley wanted to know if anyone had done something at work they were not supposed to do.
