neyo and sonne

As most of us know, Ne-Yo is doing his thing with Compound University  but the also accepted the Senior Vice President of Artist & Repertoire (A&R) position at Universal Motown Records about a year ago. This week he signed his first international artist, Sonna Rele to the label. The very talented Ne-Yo had this to say about her talent, “There is a quality about Sonna’s voice that lingers in your ears after she performs a song.

Her musicianship, which caught my attention via her ‘Music Monday’ videos on Facebook, is refreshing and undeniably authentic.”The singer/songwriter/label executive surprised Sonna on stage in London to announce that she joined Motown’s artist roster. Obviously excited,  Sonna spoke about her new opportunity stating, “I’m very humbled that a global superstar like Ne-Yo supports my music wholeheartedly enough to present me with a recording contract with Universal Motown Records. I’ve been working hard for this moment and I’m truly grateful for this opportunity.

It’s going to be an amazing journey ahead.”Sonna joins some very talented Motown artists; B.J. the Chicago Kid, Stacy Barthe, MPrynt along with Chrisette Michele as the record label tries to rebuild on it’s historical legacy.
