Spotify Launches AI-Driven Interactive Music Platform

Spotify has announced a significant advancement in its service with the introduction of an AI-driven interactive music platform. This new platform aims to transform the listening experience from passive to interactive, allowing users to engage directly with their music preferences. The integration of AI technology, particularly through the acquisition of the Sonantic voice platform, enables features such as the ‘Prompted Playlist,’ which allows Premium users in select markets to create playlists based on their specific prompts.

In conjunction with the new features, Spotify is addressing the monetization challenges faced by creators in the AI music landscape. The company is working to establish a clearer rights framework that enables artists to effectively monetize their existing catalogues through AI-generated content. Spotify is collaborating with major music labels to develop artist-centric AI products, emphasizing the need for a robust dataset that reflects diverse musical tastes across different cultures.

In addition to its music offerings, Spotify has also launched an audiobooks feature that allows users to order physical books and sync them with their audiobook playback, enhancing the user experience and expanding its content portfolio. As Spotify ventures further into interactive audio capabilities, it faces growing competition, particularly in the video podcasting space, where platforms like Netflix are also making strides.

Spotify’s user base continues to grow, with total monthly active users reaching 751 million in 2025, reflecting an 11.3% year-on-year increase. Premium subscribers also saw a rise, reaching 290 million, contributing to an 11.1% growth in premium revenue. Overall, Spotify’s total revenue increased to €17,186 million, marking a 9.7% year-on-year growth, despite a slight decline in ad-supported revenue.
