The theft occurred when the driver transporting the car received a fraudulent text message from someone posing as an employee of the dealership, instructing the driver to deliver the vehicle to a different location.
Discovery of the Theft
The dealership became suspicious when the car did not arrive as scheduled. At around 4 p.m., the general manager contacted the driver, who mistakenly believed the car had been delivered as instructed by the fraudulent message. This raised alarms at the dealership, prompting further investigation.
