“NATIONAL RECORDING ARTISTS FIGHT BACK AGAINST HUNGER”
WHUR 96.3 FM Brings Together Musicians for Holiday DVD/CD Charity Project

Washington, D.C., (December 16, 2008) – More than a dozen national recording artists have joined forces with WHUR 96.3 FM – Howard University to help combat hunger in the Washington, D.C. area, recording a special holiday DVD/CD. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to and support “Food2Feed”, WHUR’s non-profit organization which seeks to provide needy residents with traditional holiday meals.

The “Soul of the Holidays” DVD/CD is a one-hour holiday musical extravaganza, featuring some of the industry’s top music artists performing contemporary renditions of popular classical holiday songs. The special was recorded live at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts in Bowie, Maryland .

Artists like Brian Culbertson, Maysa, Phil Perry, Mike Phillips, Plunky, Tony Rich, Spur of the Moment, Angie Stone, and Vanessa Renee Williams gave freely of their time and talents to make the DVD/CD possible. “We are very grateful that so many artists were able to collaborate on this project. The DVD/CD is a great stocking stuffer, but most importantly it will help increase awareness about the plight of the hungry while raising money to feed needy families,” said DVD/CD Executive Producer and WHUR General Manager Jim Watkins.

Songs featured on the CD include such favorites as “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “This Christmas,” and “Little Drummer Boy.” The DVD contains the live special performances along with holiday memories of the artists.

The DVD/CD is on sale for $24.99 at HYPERLINK “https://www.souloftheholidays” www.souloftheholidays. For more information on “Food2Feed,” log on to HYPERLINK “https://www.food2feed.org” www.food2feed.org.
