The Weeknd Nominated 6 Times for Juno Awards

theweekendAt a press conference announcing the nominations for the 2016 JUNO Awards, CTV and The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) revealed that JUNO Award-winning and internationally acclaimed alternative R&B sensation The Weeknd is set to return to the JUNO stage during CTV’s broadcast of THE 2016 JUNO AWARDS, airing Sunday, April 3 live from The Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary at 7 p.m. ET/8 p.m. AT.

Nominated today for six JUNO Awards, the most of any artist, including Album of the Year (sponsored by Music Canada) and Artist of the Year. The Weeknd joins additional performers announced today Bryan Adams, Dean Brody, and Shawn Mendes, as well as previously announced performer Alessia Cara.

A native of Toronto, The Weeknd was one of the most influential artists of 2015 as a result of the release of Beauty Behind the Madness, which went on to break several Billboard records including spending 45 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, the longest streak for any male artist. “The Hills” clinched #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks, and he became the first male to top Hot 100, Billboard 100, and Artist 100 simultaneously, and the first artist to ever simultaneously hold the Top 3 slots on Billboard’s R&B Chart. Meanwhile, Beauty Behind The Madness is the first album to surpass over 100 million global audio streams debut week.
