Rickey Smiley Show: Dollar Tree Theft Incident

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show discussed a Dollar Tree employee who stole thousands of dollars and then claimed she was robbed at gunpoint. A mother working at Dollar Tree has been accused of a crime, said the morning show host. She was taken into custody for fraud and more, he added.

Investigators say Melisha Ford collected funds on August 13th, 14th, and 15th that were meant to be deposited into a bank account once the store closed for the day. Ford’s manager, and loss prevention, met with her because the money had not been deposited, and they wanted to talk to her about the implications of her actions. Despite that meeting, Ford failed to deposit funds on August 19th, and 20th, said the radio DJ.

On August 21st, she called 911 and said she had been held at gunpoint while closing the store. After an investigation into the robbery, police discovered that the person who robbed the store was the assistant manager’s 15-year-old son. She confessed that she was the mastermind behind the whole scheme with her son.

Police allege that Ford stole over $5000 in six days. The morning show host said he hopes the money Ford stole was worth it because her bond is going to be more than $5000.
