Michael Riggs has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Licensing and Income Tracking at Sony Music Publishing (SMP), based in their Nashville office. In his new role, Riggs will focus on improving digital deal tracking operations and matching capabilities, both in the U.S. and globally.
Additionally, he will continue to lead several key teams, including Licensing, Sync Administration, Global Income Tracking, and Client Audit.
Riggs, who has been with Sony Music Publishing for nearly 30 years, first joined the company as an Income Tracking Analyst. Over the years, he has played a key role in advancing the company’s digital royalty tracking and collection systems, collaborating with global teams to ensure quicker and more efficient payments for songwriters and clients.
Riggs has been particularly instrumental in expanding the company’s ability to collect royalties faster and secure emerging revenue streams.
Dale Esworthy, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Administration at Sony Music Publishing, praised Riggs for his leadership and persistence in the digital space, acknowledging his work in securing unpaid royalties and driving licensing initiatives.
