Relevant Radio: 25 Years of Inspiring Faith

Relevant Radio just hit a major milestone, celebrating 25 years of bringing the Gospel to millions through radio and mobile streaming.

Relevant Radio, the third-largest radio company in the United States by unique daytime reach, is celebrating its 25th anniversary since its inception. The network has grown significantly over the years, now broadcasting on more than 220 stations nationwide and streaming its content globally via a free mobile app that has been downloaded over 1.2 million times in all 50 states and 192 countries. This impressive outreach allows the network to share hope and inspiration through engaging, informative programming aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith.

Founded in December 2000, Relevant Radio has become a beacon for those looking for guidance in their spiritual lives. The networks mission aligns with a long tradition of evangelization through media, reminiscent of saints who utilized the tools of their time to spread their messages. The impact of Relevant Radio is evident, as a recent listener survey highlighted how its programming has helped many return to their faith and live out their Catholic values. The numbers reflect a significant reach, but its the personal stories behind those numbers that resonate deeply.

Father Francis Joseph Hoffman, known as Fr. Rocky, serves as the Chairman and CEO of Relevant Radio. He reflects on the network’s journey, stating, “The journey of Relevant Radio is a beautiful story of faith, perseverance, and the abundant blessings of Our Lord.” He emphasizes how the network has exceeded all expectations since its debut, touching countless hearts and homes along the way. The stations evolution can be traced back to a heartfelt call to action from a mother to her son. Inspired by Mother Angelicas call to establish radio stations to share EWTN’s programming, John Cavil of Green Bay took a leap of faith, purchasing a station to fulfill his mothers wish.

The launch of Relevant Radio in its early years as Christ the King Communications marked the beginning of a new chapter in Catholic radio. While initially intending to broadcast EWTN programs, the network quickly pivoted to focus on live and interactive talk shows, enhancing its appeal. In 2003, the name was changed to Relevant Radio, coinciding with Fr. Rocky joining the team as a host and later taking on leadership in 2009.

The recent anniversary celebration took place on December 12, a day that holds significance as both the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the date of the network’s first broadcast license. The evening commenced with a Solemn Mass at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Chicago, followed by a formal dinner at the Hilton Chicago. During the event, Msgr. James Shea, President of the University of Mary, received the Relevant Radio Christ Brings Hope Award for his contributions. Fr. Rocky took a moment to express gratitude for all that has been achieved and to share excitement for what lies ahead.

As Relevant Radio continues to inspire millions daily, it remains committed to its mission of spreading the message of faith and hope through the power of media.
