Man Fires into Crowd During Bar Fight; One Critical Condition

One person was left in critical condition after a man fired into the crowd during a bar fight in Los Angeles. The man shot into a crowd in Boyle Heights early Sunday morning. The shooting left one person in critical condition, and five others wounded.

Around 12:45 a.m. at the Holiday Bar located at 2471 Whittier Boulevard, the shooting occurred after a fight broke out between several individuals. Witnesses told police that a man pulled out a gun during the altercation and fired into the crowd.

“It is unknown who he was arguing with,” Lt. Letisia Ruiz with Los Angeles Police told KTLA. “When he produced the handgun, he shot into the crowd, and that’s when individuals got struck by gunfire.”

Witnesses said bar patrons ran for cover, spilling the chaos onto the street. Four men and two women were injured in the attack, including one person who was listed in critical condition.

Due to the investigation, police closed Whittier Boulevard on Sunday morning between Soto Street and Fickett Street.
