Max Lousada, the former chief of Warner Music, and Julie Greenwald, ex-CEO of Atlantic Records, are reportedly in discussions to establish a new company after their departures from Warner Music Group. Together, they have played pivotal roles in shaping the careers of renowned artists like Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, Lizzo, and Cardi B.
The duo is currently exploring potential partners for financing a joint venture, having registered two companies, 26.2 Music and 26.2 Services, in the UK. The first is aimed at engaging in sound recording, music publishing, and artistic creation.
While industry insiders speculate about their focus on artist management or catalog acquisitions, concrete plans remain undisclosed. Lousada, who is 52, was anticipated to take the CEO position at Warner but saw it go to Robert Kyncl instead, leading to his exit in the summer of 2024 with a substantial severance package.
Greenwald, 56, stepped down around the same time, following her tenure at Atlantic Records. Both are respected figures in the industry, with Lousada being referred to as ‘the boss’ by Stormzy and praised by other major artists.
