Okuno, known for her distinctive directorial style, is helming the film, which is based on her original screenplay. Set in 1961, Brides follows Sally Bishop (Olivia Cooke) and her husband, who find themselves stranded at a remote villa in Northern Italy.

The villa is overseen by the enigmatic Vova (Harry Lawtey), who resides with a group of beautiful, immortal women (played by Turner-Smith and Prettejohn) and their mysterious caretaker (Burn Gorman). As Sally becomes more involved in their seductive, violent, and illusionary world, she begins to lose her sense of time and identity, undergoing a dark transformation of her own.

The film has generated buzz, with NEON acquiring North American distribution rights and preparing for a theatrical release. Focus International will handle international distribution, with FilmNation releasing in certain territories. Manor Kill Media is financing the project, and Likely Story is producing.

The ensemble cast brings a wealth of talent, with Harry Lawtey known for his standout role as Robert Spearing in Industry and for portraying Richard Burton in Mr. Burton. He has also been involved in high-profile projects like Joker: Folie à Deux and Billion Dollar Spy.

Jodie Turner-Smith, celebrated for her performance in Queen & Slim, has also starred in After Yang, Anne Boleyn, and White Noise. She is currently featured in Tron: Ares and the upcoming second season of The Agency.

Viola Prettejohn is gaining recognition for her role as a young Princess Elizabeth in The Crown. She has also appeared in The Witcher, Wolf Hall, and Counterpart. Most recently, she starred in the Venice Film Festival debut The Testament of Ann Lee.

Burn Gorman’s extensive career includes roles in The Dark Knight Rises, Pacific Rim, and Pinocchio, along with the upcoming Frankenstein and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s new project.

NEON’s Brides is set to join a growing list of prestigious films, including several selected for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
