Cause of Michael K. Williams Death: Actor Found Dead at 54

Actor Micheal K. Williams was found dead today, he was 54. It is suspected the actor died of a heroin overdose. He was alone and found in his apartment in NYC.

Drug paraphernalia was found near his body. Williams was best known for his role as Omar Little on HBO’s “The Wire,” but he also tackled characters that many respected older black male actors would never touch. He was most recently in Ava Duverney’s “When They See Us.”

The Brooklyn native also recently appeared in HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” and the series “F Is for Family.”

In a 2017 interview with the New York Times, the actor spoke openly about his problems with substance abuse.

His rep told The Hollywood Reporter “It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss,” his long-time rep Marianna Shafran of Shafran PR
