BMG Chrysalis US Acquires Rights To Music From Khumba

BMG Chrysalis US has announced a deal with Triggerfish Animation Studios. Triggerfish is a fast-growing Cape Town-based media and entertainment company and is one of the largest animation studios in Africa.BMG has acquired 100% of the music publishing, master sound recordings, and soundtrack album rights in and to the original score and music of Khumba. Khumba is a 3D computer-animated adventure comedy featuring a star-studded cast including Lawrence Fishburne and Liam Neeson.

The film opened at #1 at the box office in South Africa last year and continues to roll out in the rest of the world. The purchase of the Khumba master recordings further adds to BMG’s recorded catalogue and follows the acquisitions of Sanctuary and Mute, highlighting the company’s intentions to expand this line of business.”The composer, Bruce Retief, did a fantastic job of creating an authentic and original soundtrack for Khumba and we’re immensely pleased that BMG will be helping his music reach a wider audience ” says Khumba producer Stuart Forrest.
