Hip Hop Made: The Countdowns

Audacy is excited to announce “Hip Hop Made: The Countdowns,” a special programming series in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. This series of one-hour Top 10 countdown shows will run each Saturday across 35 Urban, Throwback, Rhythmic AC and Top 40 stations and nationwide on the Audacy app.

Audacy on-air hosts will guide listeners through the first 50 years of Hip Hop, presenting a curated selection of the genre’s most influential songs and showcasing the talent and diverse styles that have shaped the Hip Hop landscape.

At the culmination of the series, Audacy will present “Hip Hop Made: The 50 Greatest Songs of the Past 50 Years,” a long-form countdown show hosted by Audacy nationally syndicated host Ed Lover. This special show will air on August 11, 50 years after the birth of Hip Hop in the Bronx, and feature a selection of the most iconic and groundbreaking songs that have shaped the history of Hip Hop.

The countdowns will feature the following themes and hosts:

July 8: “Top 10 Songs by Female Emcees” hosted by 94.7 The Block’s Miss Jones

July 15: “Top 10 Party Songs” hosted by rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot

July 22: “Top 10 Collabs” hosted by 94.7 The Block’s Cipha Sounds

July 29: “Top 10 Songs by Groups” hosted by 94.7 The Wave’s Greg Mack

August 5: “Top 10 90s Songs” hosted by V-103’s Big Tigger
