America’s Most Wanted Inducted into Broadcasting Hall of Fame

FOX’s “America’s Most Wanted” Joins NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame

In a landmark announcement, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has revealed that the iconic true crime series, “America’s Most Wanted,” aired by FOX, will be honored with an induction into the prestigious NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

America's Most Wanted

This accolade is set to be formally bestowed during the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame Ceremony, scheduled for April 15 at 1 p.m. PDT, on the Main Stage of the 2024 NAB Show.

John Walsh, acclaimed for his Emmy-Award winning role as the series host, alongside his son and co-host Callahan Walsh, will accept the award. Since its inception in 1988, “America’s Most Wanted” has played a crucial role in engaging the public to assist in solving crimes across the nation, contributing significantly to the capture of 1,195 fugitives and the safe return of over 50 missing children to their families.

The series emerged from John Walsh’s personal tragedy and his unwavering commitment to advocating for crime victims globally. Following the abduction and murder of his son Adam in 1988, Walsh launched the series on FOX, which also led to the founding of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Alongside his son Callahan, who actively promotes child safety programs as a child advocate with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Walsh continues to champion victims’ rights and justice.

NAB President and CEO Curtis LeGeyt praised the Walsh family’s dedication and the show’s impactful legacy, stating, “For over three decades, ‘America’s Most Wanted’ has not only captivated audiences but has also played an instrumental role in aiding law enforcement, fostering safer communities and supporting victims and their families.”

The NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame is known for honoring the significant contributions of radio and television personalities or programs to the broadcasting landscape. Past inductees include notable shows such as “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “FOX NFL Sunday,” “Meet the Press,” “The Price is Right,” “Saturday Night Live,” and “ABC’s Wide World of Sports.”

For those interested in the latest show news or media resources, NAB Show has opened its news media registration, inviting participants to explore its comprehensive press resources page for media kits, creative assets, style guides, and more.
