Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail is the top movie in Lionsgate history, raking in a whopping 41 Million dollars over the weekend. This may be strange at best but Steve Rothenberg, president of distribution at Lionsgate. the only distributer willing to gamble on Tyler Perry’s films, states “You could argue that Madea is now the top female box office star in Hollywood.” Rothenberg goes on to say, “The character is one of the great screen creations of the last decade.”
