National Black Radio Hall of Fame Welcomes CMG Radio’s Monica May, Terri Avery, and Frank Ski
Cox Media Group (CMG) today announced the induction of Monica May, Terri Avery, and Frank Ski into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame.
The National Black Radio Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of radio, particularly those who have worked to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the industry.
“Monica, Terri, and Frank have not only been instrumental in shaping the radio landscape, but they’ve lived out CMG’s purpose of improving lives by informing, entertaining, and elevating the communities we serve,” said Rob Babin, EVP of CMG Radio. “This honor is a true testament to their commitment to excellence, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.”
May’s extraordinary career has seen her crisscrossing the country, weaving a rich tapestry of unforgettable moments in both radio and television. Her enthralling interviews with industry legends and notable leaders, including former President Barack Obama, have captured imaginations and embodied the spirit of the airwaves.
As part of the CMG Orlando market, she’s been an ardent advocate for change and has played a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of broadcasting talent. She’s supported and encouraged hundreds of interns, including her daughter Monique, who were eager to pursue careers in communications.
Avery, a 30-year veteran in the radio business, currently serves as the Director of Branding and Programming for KISS 104.1 in Atlanta. She has earned numerous industry awards, including five recognitions as the Best Program Director in the country by Radio Ink magazine.
Her passion for the communities she serves is evident through her remarkable achievement in creating Black Radio United for The Vote, which mobilized Black communities during both the 2020 Presidential election and the 2022 mid-term elections.
Ski, an award-winning radio and television personality, renowned disc jockey, motivational speaker, journalist, and philanthropist, has been the host of The Frank Ski Show in the CMG Atlanta market for over three decades.
His career highlights include the final interview with Coretta Scott King and being presented the “Journalist of the Year” award on behalf of the Rainbow Push Coalition by Reverend Jesse Jackson.
All three award-winning Radio personalities were inducted into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame on October 7.
