Introduction

Scammers are targeting clients looking to get their hair braided by using real stylists’ work and creating fake social media pages.

Reports of Scams

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is receiving reports of scams targeting individuals wanting braids. Scammers take pictures from legitimate stylists and post them on fake social media pages.

Modus Operandi

Potential clients find the fake pages and book appointments, often making small deposits. Clients realize they have been scammed when they do not hear back from the supposed stylist on the appointment day.

Impact on Legitimate Businesses

Real stylists like Porsche Hensley, who has been braiding hair for over 10 years and owns Divine Innovation 615 in Nashville, are affected. Hensley reported instances where clients arrived for appointments, only to find out they were scammed.

Precautions to Avoid Scams

BBB advises not to pay for the service in full before the appointment. Visit the stylist’s location before booking. Verify the stylist’s work by searching for them online and including the word “scam” after their name. Ask for the stylist’s license number and verify it.

Continuing the Business

Despite the scams, stylists like Porsche Hensley remain undeterred and continue their work.

Conclusion

Scammers exploiting the popularity of hair braiding are causing issues for both clients and legitimate stylists. Clients are advised to take precautions to ensure they are booking authentic services.

It features his new single “Salam” with Swizz Beatz and French Montana, out today alongside the official music video—watch HERE. The video stars $kinny, Swizz Beatz, and French Montana and includes impressive video effects that portray iconic Saudi Arabian monuments and Arabic elements, allowing the three artists to continue to bring their Arabic culture into the mainstream.

On “Salam,” $kinny says, “‘Salam’ is a magical record. It started off with an Instagram post from Swizz listening to my song. He sent me a direct message, and we ended up in a studio that same night. It was one of the greatest moments in my career so far. We played that song at least 100+ times that night!”

Swizz Beatz comments, “Being the executive producer of Have a Nice Trip was easy because $kinny is super talented. He’s not just an artist, he writes and produces, which made the process even better!! My favorite part of making ‘Salam’ was the energy the record has. I know it will give off!!” French Montana adds, “That hook represents everything I stand for.”

Today, Variety ran an exclusive piece on the new single and album—read it HERE.

$kinny presents Saudi culture from a fresh perspective, infusing the traditions, inspirations, and sounds of his heritage into an otherworldly brand of hip-hop irreverent of borders and boundaries, yet firmly rooted in the future. He says, “My vision is to make timeless music. From hard energetic records to smooth melodic vibes that take you for a ride, I’m here to push the envelope and give the world a new vibe. I hope my music helps my fans go through the bad and good times. I want my songs to be there for them when they’re happy or sad… also that they should be confident in who they are and always be themselves, dreams come true so be careful what you wish for.”

In March, $kinny dropped his first two singles from the album, “Saudi Most Wanted” and TAMAM” feat. Fat Money. The songs were released with music videos, which instantly trended at #1 and #3 respectively on YouTube in Saudi Arabia upon release. On Have A Nice Trip, he blends cultures and brings people together like never before. Additional collaborations on the album include Belly and King Bach. It follows $kinny’s 2020 single “My Blocka” and breakout projects, 2017’s Late Night Blvd EP and 2019’s Thank You For Nothing.

Stay tuned for more to come from the buzzing artist this year.
