The attack occurred in the early hours of the morning, under the cover of darkness. Atlanta police received a call about the assault just after 6:15 AM. Upon arrival, officers found the man unresponsive in a stairway.

Gary Peebles, a local resident who frequently passed the area, recognized the victim as someone who often slept on those stairs. He expressed his shock and sadness over the senseless violence.

Investigation and Evidence

Police have been reviewing surveillance footage of the incident, which captured the entire assault. Although the video has not been released, authorities have described the suspect as wearing all black. Around noon, investigators returned to the scene and collected a large pipe, believed to be related to the attack, as evidence.
