“Songs for Selina,” an independent drama exploring themes of power, fame, and the realities of the music industry, is scheduled to premiere in Philippine cinemas on March 18, 2026. The film features a soundtrack co-written and produced by acclaimed R&B artist Jay R, who is also the CEO of HomeWorkZ Entertainment, the production company behind the project.
In addition to the original songs, the film includes a score composed by Emmy Award-winning Filipina composer Denise Santos. The distribution rights for North America have been secured by Amazon Prime US and Tubi, with the film set to debut in that market in 2025. The cast is composed entirely of Filipino talent, with lead roles played by Mica Javier and Rachel Coates as Selina and Maya, childhood friends whose relationship is tested in the competitive music landscape.

Jay R’s involvement extends beyond the soundtrack; he also serves as an executive producer on the film. He has emphasized the significance of independent storytelling in the entertainment industry and the need for diverse narratives. The soundtrack features both solo and duet performances by the lead actresses, with the songwriting process reflecting Jay R’s own career experiences, aiming to enhance the film’s narrative through music.
Other notable cast members include Rachel Alejandro, Audie Gemora, Nicole Laurel, Leanne Mamonong, and Gian Magdangal. The film aims to provide an authentic portrayal of the challenges faced by artists within the industry and highlights the importance of independent projects in shaping the future of entertainment in the Philippines.
