Anyone who has heard Jasmine Chess dj can tell that she brings a style of her own to the turntables, one that’s rooted in music history. The dj and vintage connoisseur’s passion for performing is by no means a mistake. Her roots are thick in the entertainment industry, tracing back to her grandfather, Leonard Chess, who founded Chess Records in 1950 and discovered such talents as Muddy Waters, Etta James and Chuck Berry.
In the 1970’s the torch was passed on to her father, who took the reigns and founded The Rolling Stones record label spawning a notably psychedelic era in music. Three generations later, Jasmine continues to carry on the family legacy, spinning a mix of old timey blues tunes, the genre her grandfather created, and modern hits…
Only one year into a blossoming dj career, her name is quietly being passed around the fashion world, and she is frequently called upon to deejay everything from runway shows to special events for top brands such as, Alexander McQueen, La Perla, Missoni, DKNY, VOGUE, and Emporio Armani. Similar to her style Jasmine describes her music selections as eclectic and bold.
When not behind the turntables, Ms. Chess runs Vetta Vintage, a high-end vintage e-commerce site. Curated by Miss Chess, Vetta is a fully shoppable collection of history’s most adored fashion styles. The hand-chosen vintage selection has caught the eyes of publications such as Vanity Fair, Style Caster, DuJour, Bib + Tuck, Refinery29, and more. Vetta Vintage is also a featured dealer on leading online marketplace 1stdibs, you can view the Vetta Vintage selection on 1stdibs at the following link: https://www.1stdibs.com/dealers/vetta-vintage/
