Beyonce first began taking classes at an early age. She then enrolled into a music magnet school, where she participated in the chorus. Knowles was also a member of the St. John United Methodist choir for two years. She later attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston. During her professional career, Beyonce has studied voice under renowned vocal coach, Linda Septien. She has more recently turned to a dear friend and Oscar-winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow for advice on how to sharpen her chops as well.

  1. I can only hope that the striking parallels between Ms. Knowles’ story and Whitney Houston’s will end soon.
Both women started as startlingly talented, beautiful and sweet. Both had Christian upbringings with roots in gospel. Both uncharacteristally married successful “bad boy” musicians. And, like Ms. Houston, it seems Beyonce’s persona is slowly changing to that of a spoiled diva living in her own universe.
Time will tell if Beyonce writes her own history or follows the path that appears to have been laid out for her.
