YouTube Music Subscription Revenue Hits $0B Annually

YouTube’s subscription revenue has reached approximately $20 billion annually, significantly contributing to the overall financial performance of its parent company, Alphabet. In its Q4 2025 earnings report, Alphabet disclosed that YouTube’s combined advertising and subscription revenues exceeded $60 billion for the year, with YouTube Music and other subscription services playing a pivotal role in this growth.

Alphabet reported that YouTube’s advertising revenue grew 8.7% year-on-year to $11.4 billion in Q4 2025, although this marked a slowdown compared to previous quarters. For the full year, YouTube’s ad revenues totaled $40.37 billion, reflecting an 11.7% increase from 2024. Despite the deceleration in ad revenue growth, YouTube’s subscription business has emerged as a significant revenue stream.

Alphabet’s subscription, platforms, and devices segment saw a revenue increase of 17% year-on-year, totaling $13.6 billion, largely driven by the performance of YouTube Music and YouTube Premium. While specific figures for YouTube Music’s subscriber base are not disclosed, it was noted that the platform has reached 125 million paid subscribers as of March 2025, a substantial increase from the previous year. This growth is essential for YouTube’s objective of becoming a leading revenue contributor to the music industry.

Overall, Alphabet’s financial results for 2025 indicate a robust performance, with total revenues surpassing $400 billion for the first time. The company reported a 30% year-on-year increase in Q4 net income, amounting to $34.5 billion. As Alphabet continues to expand its investment in AI and enhance its subscription offerings, the role of YouTube’s music services in driving revenue growth remains a focal point for the company’s strategy.
