A California-based health-care consulting firm has successfully acquired the assets of Genesis Healthcare, previously the largest nursing home operator in the country. New Generation Health’s $1 billion bid, disclosed in a recent transcript, has sparked surprise among industry observers. Their name had not emerged during previous discussions when Dallas-based bankruptcy Judge Stacey G.C. Jernigan rejected insider proposals last month. Notably, NewGen has previous experience working with Genesis, which manages 175 facilities across the United States.
