TikTok has introduced a new feature that allows users to stream complete songs directly within the app, utilizing Apple’s MusicKit framework. This “Play Full Song” functionality is available exclusively to Apple Music subscribers. The feature is designed to enhance user engagement by enabling seamless access to full tracks without leaving the TikTok platform. It is clearly marked with the label “From Apple Music,” ensuring that all royalties and licensing are managed by the streaming service.
Currently, the new features are undergoing testing in select regions, although major markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union are not yet included in this phase. Additionally, TikTok has launched a “Listening Party” feature, inspired by collaborative streaming models, which aims to foster a shared musical experience among fans.
The timeline for a broader rollout of these features remains unspecified, raising questions about the potential for similar partnerships between other digital service providers and social media platforms. This collaboration marks a continuation of the relationship between Apple and TikTok, which began in 2023 with the integration allowing TikTok users to save songs to their Apple Music libraries and further evolved in 2024 with the ability to share Apple Music tracks directly on TikTok.
In conjunction with this announcement, Apple Music is promoting a three-month free trial for new subscribers, available until February 24, following a high-profile Super Bowl LX Halftime Show featuring Bad Bunny, which has contributed to increased visibility for the service.
