Little Big Town Single Sparks Outrage at Small Stations

A few smaller market stations are not comfortable with Grammy Winning group Little Big Town’s lyrics from their latest single “Girl Crush.” The song is a ballad about a woman who is very envious about her ex boyfriend’s new girlfriend. The lyrics state: “I want to taste her lips, yeah cause they taste like you / I want to drown myself in a bottle of her perfume,” vocalist Karen Fairchild sings. “I want her long blond hair, I want her magic touch / Yeah cause maybe then, you’d want me just as much … I got a girl crush.”
Several smaller market country stations report calls from angry listeners who state the stations are “promoting the gay agenda.” The group states the song was not intentionally written about two women but even if it’s was they are baffled by why it would be a problem in 2015.
