Now in its 11th year, ONE Musicfest is creating a virtual pre-party to the polls and music festival to enact its longtime mission of Unity Through Music.
Set for Sunday, November 1, and simulcast via YouTube, and the One Musicfest, REVOLT Media & TV and the Roots’ YouTube platforms, the “pre-party to the polls” is a three-hour digital celebration of the festival’s rich history and culture, and our civic responsibility to Get Out The Vote! In partnership with REVOLT Media & TV, Michelle Obama’s nonpartisan, nonprofit When We All Vote and Stacey Abram’s Fair Fight initiatives, as well as the new black college fundraising app, HBCU Change. ONE Musicfest will feature performances by some of the hottest names in R&B and hip-hop, as well as some of the best performances of the fest’s past decade from artists including Wu-Tang Clan, T.I., The Roots, Ari Lennox, Jill Scott, H.E.R., DMX, KP the Great featuring Pharrell, Usher and more.
For more than a decade, ONE Musicfest has maintained its place at the forefront of the culture as a platform for timeless icons and explosive upstarts alike. It has notably played host to everyone from Kendrick Lamar to Nas, Miguel, 2 Chainz, and George Clinton. Not to mention, it regularly attracts plaudits from USA Today, Billboard, Consequence of Sound, Rolling Stone, and more in addition to trending across the internet.
“We would have loved to unite with 50,000 of our amazing fans to celebrate our 11th year,” says J Carter, founder of ONE Music fest. “But 2020 had other plans. Considering our current state of affairs and with a critical election looming, we thought it was best to create an experience that not only entertained our base but also informs them. The most radical thing we can do during this pandemic is exercise our right to vote and continue to push our culture forward.”
“J Carter and his team has built one of the most successful, well-produced hip-hop and R&B-driven festivals in the world,” adds Shawn Gee, President of Live Nation Urban. “Before the pandemic, we were announcing a partnership for the 2020 festival in September. We are happy to be able to partner with them, along with Revolt and When We All Vote, on the virtual political pep rally and festival on November 1.”
11 years on, ONE Musicfest lives up to its name as a musical and cultural force for unification. There’s only one…
