NEON accepting applications to screen The Monkey Feb 21

In a first of its kind, NEON is giving the gift of Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey to all of God’s children by making it available to screen in churches across the country simultaneously with theaters. Beginning today, disciples can submit their requests by going to the website godsbowlingstrikestonight.com. Only applications submitted by authorized religious institutions will be considered and reviewed by the studio.

The Monkey

The record-breaking trailer launch has quickly cemented The Monkey as the must-see horror event of the year. Just one week after its launch, the full length trailer for Perkins’ upcoming horror film has become the most watched independent horror film trailer ever. The highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s short story racked up over 43 million views globally within 24 hours of dropping online.

It quickly surpassed 100 million views in its first 72 hours, surging past 109 million global views across all platforms to date. The Monkey is the second film NEON has distributed from Perkins, following the record-breaking hit Longlegs. NEON will reteam with the writer/director to release his next project Keeper in October 2025.

The film stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, and Elijah Wood. The film is produced by James Wan (The ConjuringSaw) and Michael Clear for Atomic Monster; Dave Caplan (Babylon) for C2 Motion Picture Group; Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Insidious) for Range Select; and Chris Ferguson (LonglegsChild’s Play) for Odd Fellows. C2 financed the film.

When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.
