MusiCares is making waves with over $15 million in fire relief efforts, while Care de Graaf steps up at TPAC. Plus, Tim Easton’s new album is on the way and Jubilate Music Group is celebrating a decade of service.
One year after devastating wildfires impacted Los Angeles communities, MusiCares has committed over $15 million to fire relief initiatives. This substantial funding includes $7 million that was quickly allocated to meet urgent needs in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. To date, more than 3,200 music professionals have benefited from direct financial support, health and wellness services, and ongoing recovery efforts across the region.
“Recovery does not happen on a fixed schedule,” said Theresa Wolters, Executive Director of MusiCares. “We continue to hear from people who have been in survival mode for nearly a year, rebuilding homes, juggling displacement, trying to keep working, and only now able to focus on their own health and stability. That delayed need is a very real part of disaster recovery.”
In other industry news, Care de Graaf has been elevated to Director of Programming at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC). In her new role, she will manage the commercial programming strategy across TPAC’s four venues, with particular emphasis on year-round Broadway touring productions and popular large-scale live events.
Additionally, singer-songwriter Tim Easton has signed a deal with Truly Handmade Records to release his 14th studio album, titled fIREHORSE. The album, set for physical release on Easton’s own label, Campfire Propaganda, and digital release through Truly Handmade Records on February 20, features production by multi-instrumentalist Kevin Nolan. It includes contributions from the rhythm section of Lainey Wilson’s touring band and delves into themes such as a near-fatal rafting accident and personal reflection.
Lastly, Jubilate Music Group is marking its 10th anniversary with several special initiatives. The celebration includes a video titled “Joy in the Journey: The Jubilate Music Group Story,” which chronicles the company’s evolution. Additionally, a virtual concert called “Songs Everlasting: A Jubilate Anniversary Virtual Concert” will showcase beloved pieces from Jubilate’s catalog. They’ll also host “Craft, Calling & Community: The Jubilate Writer’s Workshop,” led by esteemed composer and arranger Lloyd Larson, with guest presenters yet to be announced. Mark Cabaniss, Founder, President, and CEO of Jubilate Music Group, expressed gratitude for the milestone, highlighting the dedication of their contributors and the support of their customers.
