Big news in radio: McVay’s in the mix with the RVA. His expertise will be a game changer.
The Radio Vendor Alliance (RVA) has announced the appointment of Mike McVay as its new Strategic Advisor. McVay, a veteran with over 40 years of experience in the broadcasting field, will play a pivotal role in linking radio stations to vetted and trusted vendors. He is the President of McVay Media and has been recognized for his contributions to the industry, including his induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2025.
Dennis Green, the Chief Operating Officer of Sun and Fun Media and a member of RVA, praised McVay’s extensive knowledge and commitment to the radio sector. “Mike’s insights will be invaluable as we strive to equip local radio stations with essential tools and services in a rapidly changing media environment,” Green stated.
Over his distinguished career, McVay has consulted for hundreds of radio stations across several countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and various European nations. He previously held the position of Executive Vice President of Content and Programming at Cumulus Media and Westwood One, where he managed programming across more than 500 stations nationwide.
McVay’s impact on the industry extends to shaping the careers of renowned personalities such as Delilah, John Tesh, Stephen A. Smith, Soledad O’Brien, and Reba McEntire. His accolades include the 2025 NAB National Radio Award and recognition as a 2024 Giant of Broadcasting from the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation, as well as a 2024 Leadership Award from the Broadcasters Foundation of America.
In addition to his new role with the RVA, McVay serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Country Radio Broadcasters and the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation. His appointment is expected to enhance RVA’s mission of empowering local radio stations by providing them with necessary resources and expertise.
