Jay Hicks Gets Promoted w/CMG

CMG’s Jacksonville

Cox Media Group- (“CMG”) Jacksonville has announced that Jay Hicks, will be the Assistant Program Director, for Power 106.1 WJGL-F2. Jay Hicks already serves as Assistant Program Director for Cox Media Group Urban AC WCFB (Star 94.5)/Orlando.

Hicks brings more than 20 years of experience to CMG-Jacksonville, most recently as PD of Audacy Urban WPGC/Washington. He previously served as Brand Manager of Townsquare Urban WBLK/Buffalo, NY, preceded by over five years in his hometown of Detroit programming Radio One’s WGPR (Hot 107.5. 

In his new role, Hicks reports to Elroy Smith, Director of Urban Content and Brand Manager/Program Director for Power 106.1 and Star 94.5. Hicks said, “It’s such a pleasure to join the Cox Media Group team in Jacksonville. I’m very excited to create world-class on-air and digital content, as well as events that serve our Jacksonville listeners.”

According to Smith, “Jay has been an integral member of the programming team at STAR 94.5. He is a strategic thinker and has a thirst to win any and every challenge that he is given. His knowledge of the urban format is superior. I think that Jay Hicks working closely with the Music Director/On-Air Personality, Angie Tejada, of Power 106 1 represents an incomparable duo. Excited to see the results of Duval’s Tru Hip-Hop evolve.
