‘Songs for Selina,’ an independent film exploring the complexities of power and fame within the music industry, is scheduled to premiere in Philippine cinemas on March 18, 2026. The film features a soundtrack co-written and produced by prominent Filipino R&B artist Jay R, who also serves as an executive producer.
Accompanying the soundtrack is an original score composed by Emmy Award-winning Filipina composer Denise Santos. The film is presented by Jay R’s HomeWorkZ Entertainment and will be distributed by Black Cap Pictures. It has already been acquired by Amazon Prime US and Tubi for its North American release in 2025.

The narrative delves into the personal and professional challenges faced by artists, emphasizing themes of vulnerability and the importance of independent storytelling.
The soundtrack features both solo and duet performances by the lead actors, with Jay R noting that the songwriting process was informed by his own experiences in the music scene. Each track is crafted to enhance the film’s narrative, ensuring that the music plays a pivotal role in storytelling.
In addition to the musical contributions, the film aims to highlight the significance of independent projects in the entertainment landscape, advocating for diverse voices and narratives within the industry.
