Greg Prata has been promoted to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Sony Music Publishing (SMP), effective March 31. Prata, who has been with the company since 2012, will continue to be based in the New York office.
He will oversee all global financial operations, including reporting, accounting, budgeting, administration, and IT.
Prata succeeds Tom Kelly, who is retiring after 35 years with the company. Prata expressed his honor at stepping into the CFO role and thanked SMP Chairman & CEO Jon Platt for his trust and support, as well as Tom Kelly for his guidance over the years.
He looks forward to working with the team to continue enhancing SMP’s capabilities and creating opportunities for songwriters.
Jon Platt, Chairman & CEO of Sony Music Publishing, praised Prata’s leadership and highlighted his significant contributions to the company. Platt expressed confidence that Prata will continue SMP’s growth and build upon the solid foundation established by Kelly’s leadership.
Prata, with over 25 years of experience in corporate finance, previously served as Senior Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis before being promoted to Executive Vice President of Finance & Corporate Strategy in 2019. Before his tenure at Sony, Prata worked in private equity and investment banking, and at EMI.
